I had a quick walk around the block this afternoon: not much around. A few Eastern Great and Varied Tits, 20 or so Dusky Thrush and this lone Pygmy.
Excellent photo Stuart and lucky to have this easy to spot little woodpecker in Hokkaido. Our comparable Lesser Spotted is really quite rare now with nesting sites often suppressed to protect them from disturbance – or worse still egg collectors….Hoping to see one on an upcoming Oriole Birding tour to the Forest of Dean…
Lesser Spotted really rare here too, only ever seen one in Hokkaido. Only ever saw 3 in the UK.
