The fog cleared briefly…
I changed to my big lens but it was still foggy…
It was warm and sunny in Hakodate this morning and we headed north to catch the port birds before they depart…
Only problem was it was foggy. I used the RF 600 f/11 lens at first thinking I’d switch to my ‘serious’ lens on the way back when the fog cleared…
Close-up birds were just about manageable.
The White-billed Diver was still around but way offshore. Unlike its relative…
I was hoping for some Stejneger Scoter and/or Long-tailed Duck shots but the former were a long way off and I could only find one of the latter. And that didn’t come close either.
Some more shots from the Canon RF 600 f/11.
Struggling a bit with it: the slowish AF and high ISO are a pixel peeper’s nightmare. Small low resolution shots like this are not so bad.
BIFs are hard, at least they’re hard for me.
A soft but interesting enough shot.
A lot of noise reduction and sharpening going on here. Again, at such low resolution and when looked at on a phone they are passable.
The AF is a bit hit and miss and yes the images a tad soft…
But I don’t think I would have been able to get these shots with my 500 f/4 as I wouldn’t have been able o swing it round and focus in time.
So a great value walkaround lens for a very good price (yes I know mine is only on loan).
