A few waders around; the above tattler on the coast and Wood Sandpiper, Pacific Golden Plover and Black-winged Stilt in the only irrigated part of the ricefields. Shame they were too far off…

There was a small flock of Wood Sandpiper in the padis yesterday……………
They’ve just started irrigating the padis and Wood Sandpiper are a regular sight in mid May.
Some Woodys
The farmers have started irrigating the padis outside town and there were a few waders around this morning. Most numerous were Wood Sandpiper: this is the commonest wader in this habitat.
Also around were 3 Red-necked Stint, 1 Great Egret and a flock of 50 or so White-fronted Geese.
