2 not very interesting birds from a short stroll this afternoon. I was trying to photograph my first Chestnut-cheeked Starlings of the year but they kept flying off.
Always Dusky Thrush around in spring as well as the ubiquitous Brown-eared Bulbuls.
It was overcast and I was using the RF 600 f/11 again. ISO 1600, I’m too lazy to open Topaz DeNoise for these common birds…plus the new Lightroom AI noise function isn’t that great so I didn’t use that either.
The above Narcissus Flycatcher was perched in nice light away from the pool.
I’ve seen about 20 or so species at the pool including some dirt common ones………..

In addition to the Crossbills there were quite a few other things around too. Best of all was an adult Steller’s Sea Eagle that briefly shot past (only the second one I’ve ever seen in Hakodate) and there were also Brambling. Siskin, Redpoll, Coal Tit, Wren, Peregrine and Common Goldeneye.
Lots of Dusky Thrush too…………
And this is a real ‘dirtbird’ in Japan……………
