Some f/11 thrushes…
Bird of the trip was Dollarbird; only the 3rd time I’ve seen it in Hokkaido. Shame it was so dark that first day.
High ISOs are OK with the R5 though.
Near where we stayed there lots of Brown-headed Thrushes…
We had a night on a campsite last night…
After being serenaded by Jungle Nightjars all night (including a brief glimpse in the twilight) we were up at sunrise and there were lots of birds: a flyover White-tailed Eagle and Osprey, Japanese Green Pigeon, Brown Dipper, Grey Wagtail, several species of thrush…
…and several species of woodpecker…
Breeding season in full swing as you can see.
A very early rise and we were in one of the local parks…and in anticipation of some nice birds I took my big lens.
Nice to find some thrushes that weren’t Duskys.
Not a vintage morning for photos it must be said but a few nice birds around: Wryneck, Hawfinch, Japanese Grosbeak, Oriental Cuckoo, Latham’s Snipe, Russet Sparrow, Grey-headed Woodpecker…
What else will the next few days bring?
