A Falcated Duck was a nice find in the local park. In addition to the crossbills there were also Common Redpoll and lots and lots of thrushes.. mainly Dusky Thrush (which are everywhere at the moment; unusual in autumn) but also several other species.

Golden Week 2023 #1
A very early rise and we were in one of the local parks…and in anticipation of some nice birds I took my big lens.
Nice to find some thrushes that weren’t Duskys.
Not a vintage morning for photos it must be said but a few nice birds around: Wryneck, Hawfinch, Japanese Grosbeak, Oriental Cuckoo, Latham’s Snipe, Russet Sparrow, Grey-headed Woodpecker…
What else will the next few days bring?
A couple of Thrushes
The spring migrants are passing through, here a couple of thrushes from this part of the world. Taken in a park just outside town. The Pale Thrush was bullying the other one: must be the ‘dominant’ species I guess.
