There were lots of Lapland Bunting around including a flock of 30 or so. Very skittish though and difficult to approach; especially on a long windswept freezing beach.

It wasn’t all eagles. The coastal grasslands had some interesting winter visitors including a small flock of Pine Bunting. They were just near where we parked our car on our first visit to this spot; despite many attempts we failed to relocate them later.
This is a male.
Yet more parklife
A lot of interesting birds in the park recently…the first Daurian Redstart of the winter, 3 species of woodpecker, lots of Nuthatch, 4 species of tit…
And near my apartment this female Bullfinch was skulking around.

Another morning in the Mukawa area…and a very close Latham’s Snipe.
I was surprised how common Chestnut-eared Buntings were.
And this is a common species up there too.
