The weather was awful, I didn’t get any nice photos and acid reflux burned my throat quite badly…
The spoonbills were still around but way off…

Don’t think I will be back that way for a while when no doubt they’ll have departed…
One of them had an almost all-yellow bill..the other didn’t. Maybe a first-winter and second-winter bird? They both had darkish wingtips so were not adults at least.
There were a couple of immature Eurasian Spoonbills at Yakumo. This is a scarce visitor but is probably annual; I’ve now seen them 7 or 8 times round here.
Some more Spoonbill pics from earlier in the week. Apparently it’s gone now……….
I took a video of the Spoonbill at Yakumo. I balanced the 500 f4 lens on my knee as I sat down on an embankment……….
I thought the Spoonbill had left Yakumo.
But it hadn’t.
I could get a bit closer this time.
Not a vintage last few days for photos but a few interesting birds around at least: Black-winged Stilt, Green Sandpiper, Grey-tailed Tattler, Kentish Plover, Shoveler, Gadwall, Great Egret, Pacific Swift, Wryneck, Red-flanked Bluetail, Red-cheeked Starling, Black-throated Diver, White-fronted Goose………..
Most interesting was this briefly seen Eurasian Spoonbill. Only the 5th one I’ve seen in Japan.
