Even when the birding is slow there are still the local Steller’s Sea Eagles at Yakumo.
I never get tired of the eagles: this is my 20th winter with them.

That’s more like it Stuart – high quality BIF images! Yakumo not the most scenic of resorts in Hokkaido for an overnight stay! Sorry for exporting new strain Covid to Japan. Even more difficult and restrictive for anyone travelling from Japan…Meanwhile plenty of Redwing on patch feeding on Holly berries. Hoping for colder weather to bring a Woodcock (one of my bogey birds)
Hi Tony. Eh? Yakumo upstream is very scenic especially in winter………….. although we were staying in town which like almost all Japanese towns is not especially nice. Hope you get the Woodcock.
Great to see the SSEs – I’ll never tire of them !
Have they ever been recorded in HK I wonder?
