The last day of my 9 day New Year break was up in Yakumo.
The Eagles are really struggling to find food it seems. I only saw a few individuals feeding. In most years early January is the best time to take photos of both species feeding but this year the ship has already sailed, at least some were fairly active and the light was great.
This is a young Steller’s Sea Eagle, probably a first year bird? The bottom one is a different individual, definitely a first year I think.
