A footnote to the Dunlins………
The above individual was tagged in Kamchatka, Siberia and has been returning to Oshamanbe every winter for the last 5 or 6 years.
The flock stays until early May and this is s species that looks far better in breeding plumage.
Interesting that this individual is loyal to the same area each winter…
It must like Oshamanbe………….
More ringing of more birds would show that more species are so inclined to return time and time again.
A good record Stu.
Thanks Phil. The same flock comes back every year. I’ve also seen a Grey-tailed Tattler several times, ringed 8 years ago in Australia, that passes through Hakodate every May.
