January 1st was a write-off with blizzards and hangover knocking any ideas of birding on the head.
Today we headed east on white snowbound roads. In one park in town we got a few common species like the above Varied Tit as well as Crossbill and Eurasian Sparrowhawk and a flock of unidentified Waxwings seen briefly from the car.
The Mountain Hawk-Eagle spot had no raptors at al except for a flyover Peregrine and a few Black Kites. There were only a few Kittiwakes around compared to last week. Other stuff of interest included Blue Rock Thrush, Glaucous-winged Gull, Harlequin Duck, Black-necked Grebe and White-tailed Eagle.
Lots of Varied Tits around today, the above one was at Onuma. They are starting to come down from the hills……………..
