Arrivals
A typical early spring local arrival…
And in some years some of these. As you probably noticed.
f/11 and high ISOs yet again
I’ve got used to using small apertures and high ISOs this winter that’s for sure…
When?
Soon the crossbill invasion will end. But when?
Some other park dwellers
In addition to these 3 common species I also saw Bull-headed Shrike, Meadow Bunting and Barn Swallow nearby…
A long winter for crossbills
They’ve been in town for a long time…
Two males
2 males only in the tiny park this afternoon….
Return of the reds
A flock of 12 or so Common Crossbill were in the tiny park near my place including my first adult males for a while.
And others…
More spring action
There were several pairs of Great Spotted Woodpecker all paired up in the park…these are males.
The Great Egret is still there too…
Spring…
Lots of these in the big park today; they are always abundant passage migrants in spring. I also saw 5 very early Barn Swallows on the local river…
In-between season
The first summer visitors should be arriving soon and the long-staying crossbills will surely be moving on too.
A sunny Monday morning…
Not much around this morning although I did see my first Bull-headed Shrike of the year.
Oh and crossbills. Of course.
