I’ve read that Waxwings sometimes get intoxicated after eating berries that have fermented.
Some Waxwings do seem sluggish (and odd individuals linger on sitting in the tree looking dazed sometimes). The above one just sat on the ground for 5 minutes doing nothing and completely ignoring me.
I can sympathize with them. I’m the same sometimes.
