The male Yellow-throated Bunting was still around on the 4th………………
But when we went back today (the 7th) there had been quite a lot of snow and its’ small muddy feeding patch had gone. Maybe it will return next time we visit……….

The Yellow-throated Bunting from Yakumo a couple of days ago. It could find food in snow free patches near where the eagles were feeding. A jerky handheld video on an ageing superzoom: I should take video more seriously.
Whilst watching the eagles perform their stuff up at Yakumo I noticed a small bird flitting around the bushes.
Small birds have been thin on the ground this winter. Hopefully that will change soon…………
It was a male Yellow-throated Bunting. This is a regular but scarce winter visitor to Hokkaido and I rattled off some shots in between the eagles.
