My second godwit species of the week…
Last shots from a hot day
Pretty hot yesterday…
In addition to the Bar-tailed Godwits and Great Knot there were also several Terek Sandpiper and Mongolian Plover, 3 or 4 Red-necked Stint and a lone Green Sandpiper (the latter not on the beach).
Some more Barwits
There were several waders species on the beach near Yakumo but the Godwits were easiest to photograph.
A sunny Sunday afternoon
Some Bar-tailed Godwits posing on the beach…
There were 2 of them.
A jogging Barwit
It was pretty hot yesterday but the Godwit was happy jogging along the beach.
I didn’t jog after it.
Well-named
Bar-tailed Godwits are aptly named as you can see when they fly………….
Off the same beach, a couple of Ospreys were fishing……..
A Godwit
There was a lone Bar-tailed Godwit on the beach yesterday…………….
A juvenile I think, it was pretty tame.
Golden Week 2021 #6
Waders have started appearing: this Bar-tailed Godwit was near Oshamanbe.
A few Wood Sandpipers were also around as well as some Kentish Plover. Little Ringed Plovers are summer breeders and are in many locations now.
