Hi Stuart, pleased to submit our entry from London of the 9 species of river ducks , in order of likelihood – Falcated (obviously), Eastern Spot-billed, Mallard, Teal, Tufted Duck, goosander, Mandarin, Smew and Goldeneye. Have we won a prize?! Happy New Year.

You missed Common Pochard and Eurasian Wigeon.
Mandarin are only summer visitors (and rare in Hakodate) and I’ve never seen Smew on this river.
