There were 7 Black-necked Grebes in one of the loacl ports this afternoon and some were well into their summer plumage……….

This is a common enough local species that I often photograph and they look great at this time of year. Also around were 2 Great-crested Grebe, 6 species of gull including Glaucous Gull and my first Little-ringed Plover of the year.
looking forward to seeing a black necked grebe; maybe they are not looking so good in November when we will be there.
There may be a few around but they tend to be easier to see in late winter/early spring.
I’ll trade you some winter LRPs (we have plenty) for one of the Black-necked Grebes !
Well see you in a few days John. See if I can smuggle a grebe in my hand luggage.
