Heading north
The ricefields near Onuma had some visitors stopping by on their way north……..
Bean and White-fronted Geese, Bewick’s and Whooper Swans……….
Terrible day for photos but some interesting species around: Smew, Grey-headed Woodpecker, White-tailed and Steller’s Sea Eagles as well as the usual common stuff.
End of the Holidays #3
Eagles weren’t the only birds on show. Also around were Great Egret, Little Grebe, Smew, Goosander, Goldeneye, Pochard, Whooper Swan, a lone Goshawk, Japanese Wagtail and a flock of Common Crossbill flying overhead.
The swans are difficult to photograph at 700mm……
Goosanders regularly flew back and forth too……..
Swans
There were lots of Swans at Onuma this last couple of days. Mainly Whoopers but also quite a few Bewick’s too…………
Both species are passing through now although Whoopers are also common winter visitors to Hokkaido.
