It was a bright sunny afternoon….
The lens is taking a bit of getting used to, still not 100% comfortable with getting the right exposure sometimes. A lot of soft shots but a few hits.
And lo-rez pics like this are presentable.
A cold day in the port. 2 Steller’s around but no decent photos, had to pass time photographing gulls and kites…
We slept in the car Sunday night so as to be in Oshamanbe early in the morning.
High high ISO here…

A dark, grey snowy Sunday with some common winter birds to match…
A dark mild sleety day east of town today…
I was waiting for the Steller’s to leave its perch and do something interesting. It didn’t…
There were some other birds around. Lots of Goldeneye, the above Slav and various gulls including this Glaucous-winged.
Thousands of kittiwakes east of town today…
None of them had red legs.
Esan was a bit quiet last weekend.
Both species of eagle were around but no photos.
The fishermen were tossing scraps into the water which the gulls appreciated…
There were 8 or 9 gull species at the rivermouth in Yakumo the weekend before last…including lots of kittiwakes.
And the various winter gulls…
Very autumnal in Hakodate. Some birds around too: 3 Great Egret on the river near my place as well as Brown Dipper, Grey Wagtail and Hawfinch. Lots of common ducks around as well.
And the winter gulls are here…
On the nearby coast there were a few winter gulls, lots of Black-necked and Great Crested Grebes, a few common ducks, some Greenshank and 1 or 2 White-tailed Eagles.
