There were several pairs of Great Spotted Woodpecker all paired up in the park…these are males.
The Great Egret is still there too…
Lots of these in the big park today; they are always abundant passage migrants in spring. I also saw 5 very early Barn Swallows on the local river…
The first summer visitors should be arriving soon and the long-staying crossbills will surely be moving on too.
Not much around this morning although I did see my first Bull-headed Shrike of the year.
Oh and crossbills. Of course.
The 7th consecutive month crossbills have been in Hakodate…
Only a few swans, no geese and the ducks were in the middle of the now mostly unfrozen lake…
Not a vintage day for photos.
Wonder how long this will stick around? Not many crossbills in town anymore…
Some people I teach desperately want to see this species so I gave them the location and they’ll check tomorrow. Hope they are successful…
The tame crossbill was in the sunshine today; no need for heavy processing as i could use ‘normal’ settings like ISO 800.
Some common birds from this morning…
The Long-tailed Tits were still around this morning…
