Just like old times……….

Red-necked Stint

A few years ago in August and September I often used to hop on a train to a beach to the west of town and look for waders. In recent years I have neglected this spot a little (and when i did visit it seemed there wasn’t much there) but today I took the train out there…………..

There was a flock of 30 or so Red-necked Stint, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, several Common Sandpiper and lone Grey-tailed Tattler, Terek Sandpiper and Little Ringed Plover. Nothing earth shattering but a pleasant afternoon on a deserted beach.

  1. Hi, Stuart. Thank you for sharing the lovely photos of the shorebirds. I only got interested in bird photography recently, small birds in particular. What you often describe as “common” birds in various Hokkaido parks are really hard to find in the city where I live. So, thanks for wonderful bird photos.
